Semtech Corporation, a leader in LoRa® device and technology integration, announced in early December 2022 that Nordic Propeye is launching its HVAC optimization solution incorporating Semtech’s esteemed LoRa devices on the LoRaWAN standard. This revolutionary development has arrived to help reduce energy consumption – optimizing building management systems across the U.S for more sustainable operations!
With sustainability efforts at the forefront of real estate conversations, property owners are turning to innovative IoT solutions for energy management and improved air quality. Building automation systems can help tenants save on costs while simultaneously reducing emissions related to electricity usage.
As America strives to become a more sustainable nation, it’s crucial we understand the effects of commercial buildings on our energy and carbon footprint. According to U.S Department of Energy estimates, these structures account for an astonishing 35% of electricity consumption in the US with 16% CO2 emissions adding further strain on our environment.
According to Stefan Lindgren, Chief Technology Officer of Nordic Propeye:
“We’ve seen tremendous success since launching our OY1210 HVAC optimization solution in Europe earlier this year, with customers now seeing energy savings of 15-30% thanks to the integration of LoRa devices and connection to the LoRaWAN network.”
“We are thrilled to have tailored our solution to abide by U.S. regulations and can’t wait to play an integral role in making the domestic real estate industry more resourceful and sustainable.”
Leveraging LoRa technology, OY1211’s U.S. version enables automated control of HVAC systems according to data gathered from wireless sensors monitoring real-time room CO2 levels, temperature and humidity as well as occupancy rate. The adaptive reporting quickly reacts with a trigger sent to the HVAC system every fifteen minutes if rapid changes in CO2 are detected within one minute or less.
By taking advantage of weather forecasts, AI technology and predictive maintenance features, this solution provides buildings with the ultimate peace-of-mind. Keeping operators informed about potential system anomalies helps ensure that their HVAC systems stay running optimally resulting in a cooler environment for all!
Marc Pégulu, the Vice President and General Manager for Semtech’s Wireless and Sensing Products Group, declared that :
“LoRa devices and the LoRaWAN standard are revolutionizing property management with straightforward yet advanced solutions worldwide.”
